Thursday, July 22, 1948 - Mother and I pealed and canned 2 gallons and 3 qts of apples. It sure has been hot today. It rained awful hard this afternoon and is some cooler tonight. I washed some for Robert this afternoon. I read some tonight, Rex and Robert went to town this afternoon. I mended some clothes.

Wednesday, July 23, 1948 - It is lots cooler today. I ironed some. I ironed with my gasoline iron. I have had the iron for a long time, but never used it. I had a gasoline iron to blow up while I was trying to use it and have been afraid of them. I decided to try the iron. It ironed O.K. today and didnt cause any trouble. I have cleaned up the house. I have moped and waxed our bedroom floor and the dining room and kitchen floor. I read some today.
