IN MEMORY OF MRS. STANLEY TAYLOR WHO DIED JAN. 21, 1947
We went to your home one day
Stanley and the boys to see
We missed your greetings at the door
It was sure sad to me.
The door was opened when we knocked
By Stanley's aunt we did not know
She gave us a hearty welcome
Yet! It wasn't you saying hello.
It seemed i couldn't think of much to say
As I was thinking of you
I tried so hard to be cheerful
But that was hard to do.
I was thinking of the last time
I saw you
You were lying on your bed
You gave me a hearty welcome
Although you were almost dead.
You didn't complain of being sick
You would say you were very well
We all knew you must have suffered
How much none of us could tell.
Just two days before you had to die
You got down on your knees
A beautiful prayer you did say
The lord was surely pleased.
It was a comfort for us to know
That Jesus was by your side
Too help you in your dying hour
And guide you across the great divide.
It was hard for us to understand
Why you were called to [go?]
and leave your family behind
They surely need you so.
You are resting in the arms of Jesus
Your sole has taken flight
You were called home to be with Jesus
That cold January night.
You have paid the debt we all have to pay
We will have to cross the great divide
If we are faithful to the end
Jesus will guide us to the other side.
Where there will be no disappointment
Or heartaches or pain
Where we live all ages
With our Savior and King.
Where we will meet our loved ones
Who have gone on before
Where there will be a reunion
That will last forever more.
A cousin
