Thursday, June 24, 1948 - I sure been busy today. I dressed a chicken and mopped and waxed the dining room floor and kitchen floor and mopped Uncle Brock's room. Beatrice boiled a ham for me. I made some beet pickles and cucumber pickles and some cooked dressing. I like what I make as well as what I buy if not better.

Friday, June 25, 1948 - Today is Robert's birthday. He is 7 years old. Lori and Sharon McRoy, Betty Wiley, Louise Jones, Monroe Slaton, Jimmy Scott, Lin, Jessie and Nannie Mae spent the day with us. Beatrice and Elma ate dinner up here. Beatrice helped with the work. Robert got lots of nice gifts. Rex got Robert a new bycycle. we had ice cream and cake and boiled ham for dinner and a good many other things. The cake cost $3.00. I bought it and had it decorated.
