MONDAY, DECEMBER 8, 1941
The United States declaired war on Japan today. They attacked some of our Islands without warning and killed a lot of our men & destroyed our ships Sunday so there was nothing left to do but declaire war. Mother & I strightened the house & I sewed some.

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 9, 1941
We washed today. We washed some for Uncle Brack. He has a real bad cold. We heard President Roosevelt make his first war speach over the radio tonight.
