Dear Ms. Schlacter,

Please excuse my slowness in responding to your kind
invitation. The pressures of election activity and
pre-legislative meetings have caused my correspondence
to lag.

I cannot accept your invitation; I traditionally spend
the holidays at home with my family, and plan to continue
that observance this year.
