Dear John,
On the chance that I may not see you for several days, I thought I'd drop a line.
By the way, that information you told me at the dance is fairly common knowledge, because my brother-in-law (Claude) indicated that he knew about it Sunday night.
The real purpose of this letter is to further discuss what you mentioned about the VEP possibly funding a writer to study black campaigns. Why not fund two or three people to do two or three small projects.
Someone, for example, to critique the NDPA, its history, growth, successes and failures, techniques and methods, and prospects for the future. Would this jeopardize your tax status? The same could be done for the FDP, with special mention of its demise. These could be published in booklet form.
What about a survey of who the region's black politicians are? What sorts of socio-economic background they come from, what level of education they have, and so on. This could also become a booklet.
How about a regional comparison - choosing selected urban and rural areas-of black voter turnout in Presidential and off-year elections, in races where blacks run against whites and where whites run against blacks.
At any rate, you can see I am full of ideas that may or may not have some merit.
Best of luck to you.
