My father-in-saw plays the cello. His hero is Pablo Casals, world famous cellist. Can ACTION LINE help me get Casals' autograph as a birthday present for my favority cellist? --Mrs. P., Akron area.

Since Casals is an avid pipe-smoker, ACTION LINE suggested sending an appropriate gift. You selected a calabash type pipe with meerschaum bowl and a tin of Madeira tobacco. ACTION LINE enlisted Dr. Hugo Lijeron of Akron U's moder language department to put your accompanying letter in Spanish. Casals was delighted. He sent an autographed photo of himself and a thank-you note from his Puerto Rico hideaway.

Is there a university in Ohio where I can study to become a mortician? I'm in high school now.--W.S., Akron.

First, graduate from high school. Then take two years of liberal arts courses in college. Then enroll in the University of Cincinnati's College of Embalming. It's the only university linked embalming school in Ohio. Then take a year's internship working at a funeral home. While there you must direct 25 funerals and embalm 25 bodies. Then take the State Board Examination to obtain your embalmer's license and funeral director's license. Then you're a mortician.

The National Cancer Institute in Washington, D.C. reports that sunbathing is considered the leading cause of skin cancer. People with fair complexions are especially susceptible.

I bought an air conditioner more than a year ago. It worked fine--except when temperatures soared. The Cleveland distributor promised me a new one. But he's left town. What do I do?-- Mrs. F.W., Kent.

The machine is working now and your warranty has been extended through October. The distributor was recently axed by the manufacturer. A factory representative was appointed to handle Akron claims. He's not authorized to install a new air conditioner, but he has made sure you'll have a cool Summer.
