The Honorable Julian Bond:
162 Euharlee Street S.W.
Atlanta, Georgia
Dear Senator Bond:
As a representative of the Wisconsin State University-Superior Young Democrats, an organization dedicated to the ideals for which both yourself and Senator McCarthy have striven, I am writing to inquire as to the possibility of your speaking on this university campus sometime during this year. I understand that you are planning to speak at Wisconsin State University, Platteville on or about the 22 of October. I am wondering, of course, whether or not you might be persuaded to include our campus in your visit to Wisconsin. I have been authorized by the University Convocations Committee to inquire as to your speaker's fee in order that the Committee might make arrangements with you. I received your address from a personal friend, Mr. Donald O. Peterson of Eau Claire, who highly recommended you as a speaker, though no recommedations were necessary as we had already been convinced by your elocuent presentation at the ill-fated Democratic Convention.
Your co-operation will be greatly appreciated. We realize your time is extremely precious but hope you will give consideration to speaking on our campus. We hope to hear from you soon. Many thanks and keep up the struggle for Peace and Justice. Superior State Young Democrats are with you all the way!
Respectfully yours
