Dear Mr. Bond:
Thank you for your letter of confirmation to appear on the campus here October 18 and 19, 1968. I hope that an honorarium of $300, plus your plane travel, motel and meals, will be sufficient. We wish it could be a great deal more.
I shall make reservations for you, avoiding Eastern Airlines if possible, and we will send the ticket prior to that time.
Which accommodations would you prefer? We would be honored to have you a guest in our home. You might prefer that the quiet of a motel arrangement. We also have a private room available for guests in our student center near the campus. Whichever would seem best for you, we can arrange.
Could we wait to firm up the departure time, until we see what exact shape the program will have on Saturday? There are some commitments we are still waiting for in regards to our plans here. We should know in the next couple of weeks much more about this. According to the travel agent, the time to make best connections is to leave here in the morning on the 10:32 A.M. MST flight ( about 3 a day here ) arriving in Atlanta 10:46 P.M. EST. Thus either Saturday morning or Sunday morning would appear the most opportune times, although I am doing further research on this. Could you stay through until Sunday morning if the plans for our program mature in this way?
Mr. Ulysses Doss, formerly of West Garfield in Chicago, ( UTC, CAM, Garfiedl Organization etc. ) will be teaching a course in Black Culture next fall in the Humanities department. Would you be willing to appear in his class on Friday?
Already many people are enthused at the prospect that we may be able to have you here with us.
Sincerely,
[signed]
Jon Nelson
