Marytown May the 9th 1869.

Father [Rerhl]:

Sister Gertrude received
a letter yesterday from home, that
her mother and father are both sick,
her mother is sick since Easter. She
w says her only wish and desire is
to see her child before she leaves this
world, she does not expect to get
well again. Sister Gertrude ask'd me
to let her go and see her mother before she dies,
she inteded to ask your permission,
she thought it would be to long before
she could get an answer. As I am most
certain that it is in our rules, that the
Sisters may go home if there parents
are sick, as she had a great desire to go
and see her dear mother once more, I
gave her permission, and said that
I would write you immediately to let
