Marytown May the 9th 1869.

Father [Rerhl]:

Sister Gertrude received a letter yesterday from home, that her mother and father are both sick, her mother is sick since Easter. She w says her only wish and desire is to see her child before she leaves this world, she does not expect to get well again. Sister Gertrude ask'd me to let her go and see her mother before she dies, she inteded to ask your permission, she thought it would be to long before she could get an answer. As I am most certain that it is in our rules, that the Sisters may go home if there parents are sick, as she had a great desire to go and see her dear mother once more, I gave her permission, and said that I would write you immediately to let

you know, I hope you will not have any objection for me giving her the permission, her folks will pay her fare both way, so it will not make any expenses for us. Now as you wrote to me in your last letter that Sister Gertrude wished to go to Little Chute, I will plainly express it how my intention was: I intended to send Sister Rosa to Boston, for we thought we would get along with four Sisters again, not that reason alone the people here dont seem to respect Sister Rosa because she has lived here before, they have so much to talk allways, though she is a very good and pious sister. I am sorry to say that I cant keep her here. Sister Siberada said she would need a sister so sister Gertrude said whe would assist her awhile this summer if she has permission. I spoke to F. Cajetan and he is not pleased he says I should write to you that she is very usefull here and knows the people well how to get along. Sister Gertrude says she dont

want her own will, she will do as she is told, you will have to send some one else to Little Chute. Sister Gertrude didn't want sister Librada to write you about it yet, if she wanted to go she would wrote herself. Mr. Walz is coming the latter part of this week pleas tell it to broth. Charles. Sister Christina's mother is going along, as I have a good opportunity I will let her go on then down to Barton, I know that you are in need of Sisters. I must close now by giving our best respects to you and all the Sisters.

I remain Truly S.M. Agnes.
