moved back for the Rapidan great
excitement among st the troops all
in motion a German in Co K in
our Reg shot in the
march accidentally reach the
Rapidan and crossed on our Pontoon
bridge encampt 1/2 mile this side
about five oclock in the morning

Wensday 2d Started on march
early in the morning Rebels Shelling
us on our retreat but don us no
harm encamped about 5 oclock
for the night

Thursday 3 Started on march at 2
oclock in the morning and arrived at
Brandy Station a little after
sun rise tired and worn out
having march 7 days & nights in
the wilderness of Va
I feal thankfull for the goodness
of god to me my life limbs &
health has bean preserved
