Cunningham and L.A. Ellis, under the [unclear] ame Cunningham and Ellis, did on the 29th day of November A.D. 1882 enter into a written contract agreement with O.M. Roberts, Governor of the State of Texas, for the lease of the State Penitentiary at Huntsville, Texas with the property thereto pertaining, and the convicts thereto belonging for the term of fifteen years from January 1st A.D. 1883 which said contract is here to attached and our names endorsed thereon to identify it. Now, therefore if said Cunningham and Ellis shall faithfully discharge all the obligations enjoined by said Contract, of every nature and kind whatsoever and say over all moneys that may become due in accordance with any or all the provisions of said Contract and shall, when required to do so by the Governor of the State of Texas furnish additional securities or sureties upon this [unclear], or a new [unclear], as the case may be, then this obligation to be null and void, othersise to remain in full force and effect. The State of Texas County of Travis Know all men by these Presents: That, We, Ed. H. Cunningham and L.H. Ellis, of said State, Under the firm name of Cunningham and Ellis, as principals and J.R. Jefferson Jr. Ed. Buckley, F.A. Rice, J.P.Simpson C.C. Niggin and S. Rogers S.S. Alston of said State, as sureties, are held and firmly bound unto O.M. Roberts, Governor of the State of Texas, and his successors in office, in the penal sum of One hundred thousand Dollars lawful and current money of the United States, to be paid to said O.M. Roberts, Governor as aforesaid, or his successors in office and for the payment of which sum well and truly to be made, We hereby bind ourselves jointly and severally, our hiers, administrators, Executors
