Account Book of Hooe & Harrison, 1786-1787 (folios 55-88)

Description

Robert Townsend Hooe partnered with Richard Harrison (of Alexandria, Virginia and later, Cadiz, Spain) to run a store in Alexandria, Virginia, from 1778 through at least 1790. Accounts in this ledger include house (overhead) accounts, fellow merchants and tradesmen, ships, and men and women living in Alexandria and the surrounding area.

This ledger includes 276 accounts across 272 folios. Due to missing folios, many of the accounts have been derived from the Cash Accounts with more to be realized as the transcribing takes place. This Work contains folios 55 to 88. Be sure to check out the list of account holders and their associated folios, if you are interested in a specific person.

The original manuscript may be found within the collections of the various Hooe & Company ledgers at the New York Public Library.
