I enclose herewith deed from Mamie J. Smith to J. J. Welch covering the property you have just sold to Wachovia Bank and Trust Company, N.A. I recorded this deed on February 26, 1974, at 10:05 a.m. and the deed is recorded in Deed Book 2732 at Page 11, in the Office of the Register of Deeds of Guilford County, North Carolina.

This Deed, Made this the fourth day of February, 1901 by Mamie J. Smith of Guilford County and State of North Carolina, party of the first part, to J. J. Welch of Guilford County and State of North Carolina, party of the second part,

Witnesseth, That the said party of the first part in consideration of ($300.00), Three (300.00) Hundred Dollars to her paid by the said party of the second part, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, has bargained and sold, and by these presents doth bargain, sell and convey unto the said party of the second part and his heirs a tract or parcel of land in the County of Guilford and State of North Carolina, in High Point Township, adjoining the lands of O. N. Richardson, W. P. Pickett and others, and bounded as follows:

Beginning at a stake on O. N. Richardson's line and running thence North with said line about one hundred and ninety four feet and nine inches to a stake O. N. Richardson's and Mamie J. Smith's corner; thence West with O. N. Richardson's line about two hundred and fifteen feet and ten inches to a stake O. N. Richardson's & Mamie J. Smith's corner in Burns' line; thence South with Burns' and W. P. Pickett's line about two hundred feet and eight inches to a stake in Mollie Alston's line; thence East with Mollie Alston's and Mamie J. Smith's line about two hundred and seventeen feet and eight inches to the beginning, containing one acre, more or less.

The above land was conveyed to grantor by [blank] See Book No [blank] page [blank], &c.

To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land and all privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging to the said party of the second part and his heirs and assigns forever.

And the said party of the first part doth covenant that she is seized of said premises in fee and has the right to convey the same in fee simple; that the same are free from incumbrances; and that she will warrant and defend the said title to the same against the claims of all persons whatsoever.

In testimony whereof the said party of the first part has hereunto set her hand and seal the day and year first above written.

STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA - GUILFORD COUNTY.

I, [blank] of said County, do hereby certify that [blank] and [blank] his wife, grantors, personally appeared before me this day and acknowledged the execution of the foregoing deed of conveyance, and the said [blank] being by me privately examined, separate and apart from her said husband, touching her voluntary execution of the same, doth state that she signed the same freely and voluntarily, without fear or compulsion of her said husband or any other person, and that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto. Let the said deed and this certificate be registered.
