This Deed Made this 21 day of May, A.D. 1940, by WACHOVIA BANK AND TRUST COMPANY, a corporation duly organized under the laws of the State of North Carolina, with its principal office in Forsyth County, North Carolina, party of the first part, to J. Welch Harriss, of Guilford County and State of North Carolina, party of the second part, Witnesseth, That the said party of the first part, in consideration of ($10.00) and other valuable considerations to it paid by the said party of the second part, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, has bargained and sold and by these presents does bargain, sell and convey unto said party of the second part and his heirs, a tract or parcel of land in the County of Guilford and State of North Carolina, in High Point Township, adjoining the lands of [blank] and others and bounded as follows, viz.:

BEGINNING at a point, Harriss' corner on the west side of North Wrenn Street; and running thence along the west side of North Wrenn Street North 37° 45' West 38.37 feet to a point, Blackwelder's corner; thence along Blackwelder's line South 52° 15' West 94.51 feet to a point; thence South 37° 36' East 37.16 feet to a point in Harriss' line; thence along Harriss' line North 52° 59' East 94.62 feet to the point of BEGINNING.

And being the same property referred to as Tract No. 2 in a deed from W. C. Idol, Trustee, to Wachovia Bank and Trust Company dated October 11, 1938, and recorded in Book 854, at Page 527, in the office of the Register of Deeds of Guilford County, North Carolina.

This property is conveyed subject to the 1939 and 1940 taxes, both City and County.

The above land was conveyed to grantor by Owen Reese, Trustee, See Book [blank] Page [blank].

To Have and to Hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land and all privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging to him the said party of the second part and his heirs and assigns forever.

And said party of the first part doth covenant that it is seized of said premises in fee and has the right to convey the same in fee simple; that the same are free from incumbrances, and that it will warrant and defend the said title to the same against the claims of all persons whomsoever.

In Testimony Whereof, The said party of the first part has caused this deed to be signed in its corporate name by its President and attested by its Secretary, and sealed with its common corporate seal, on the day and year first above written.

Attest: Shubal C. Kirkman Assistant Secretary.

STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA - GUILFORD COUNTY.

This 21st day of May, A.D. 1940, personally came before me H. C. Keener, a Notary Public, of said County and State, Shubal C. Kirkman who being by me duly sworn, says that he knows the common seal of WACHOVIA BANK & TRUST Company and is acquainted with W. C. Idol, who is VicePresident of said corporation, and that he, the said SHUBAL C. KIRKMAN, is the Assistant Secretary of the said corporation, and saw the said Vice-President sign the foregoing instrument, and that he, the said SHUBAL C. KIRKMAN, Assistant Secretary as aforesaid, affixed said seal to said instrument, and that he, the said SHUBAL C. KIRKMAN, signed his name in attestation of the execution of said instrument in the presence of said President of said corporation. Let the said deed and this certificate be registered.

Witness my hand and official seal, this the 21st day of May, 1940. H. C. Keener Notary Public. My com. expires: 8/3/40

STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA - GUILFORD COUNTY

The foregoing certificate of H. C. Keener, NP of said County, is adjudged to be correct. Let the said deed and this certificate be registered.
