4. A financial report was given by Mrs. C. E. Ferree. From Mr. Coke Cecil's magic show the Association received $10.50. From the sale of pictures of the rooms sold by Mr. Dodamead a percentage would go to the Association.

Following the Committee reports Mrs. Morrison, President of the Association, gave a most interesting report of the National Convention of parents and teachers which was held in Richmond, Virginia May 3rd through 7th to which she was a delegate representing Elm Street School. Recognition was made of the fact that two members of the State Board of the P.T.A. are from Elm Street School. Mrs. Dan R. Schroder is social welfare chairman and Mrs. H. I. Coffield is music chairman. We feel that this is indeed an honor for our school.

Mrs. C. E. Ferree presented the slate of new officers prepared by the nominating committee. The slate presented and adopted was as follows:

Mrs. H. P. Morrison - President Mrs. Edgar Hartley - Vice President Miss Mary Clegg - Treasurer Miss Hazel Welborn - Secretary

Miss Frances McCrary's fourth grade presented a lovely May Day program which was thoroughly enjoyed.

At the conclusion of the program an invitation was intended to the parents to visit in the rooms of their children. The attendance award went to Miss McCrary's fourth grade.

September 28, 1937

On the evening of September 28, 1837 the first meeting of the Elm Street Parent-Teachers Association for 1937-38 school year was held in the Auditorium of the Elm Street School. After the devotional which consisted of songs by the Glee Club, the president, Mrs. H. P. Morrison, extended a welcome to all parents, teachers new and old, and visitors. She then outlined the objectives of the ParentTeacher Association. Following the reading of the minutes of the last meeting, the president asks for reports from committee chairman. that the aims of the membership committee is to increase our membership through invitations. The other committee chairman had no report with the exception of Mrs. Hodgin, the Round Up Chairman who stated that we would hear from her later. Mrs. Schroder made an announcement of the School of Instruction which is to be held on Oct. 7. She also outlined the objectives for our years work.
