An executive meeting of the Elm Street Parent - Teacher Association was held in the library of the Elm Street School on Oct. 3, 1934.

The meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. Coffield. After a short devotional, the president called on Mrs. Schroder to outline the objectives of the association for the year, both from a physical and educational standpoint. She submitted the following: clothing for needy children, playground equipment, books for room libraries, children's magazines, a magazine shelf for parents, pictures for the building, and a mimeograph.

year is to make the children "health conscious."

The chairmen of the various committees reported that they would submit their plans after they had attended the School of Instruction which convened at Elm Street School on Oct. 5.

On the evening of October 9, 1934, the first regular meeting of the Elm Street Parent-Teacher Association for 1934 - 35 school year was held in the auditorium of the Elm Street School. After a devotional led by Miss Tinnin, the president, Mrs. H. I. Coffield, extended a hearty welcome to the parents and visitors.

A vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Andrews and Mrs. Schroder for their interest in the school building shown by the physical improvements made during the summer. Mrs. Coffield read a toast to "the child," after which Mrs. Schroder outlined the physical and educational objectives of the association for the year.

reports from committee chairmen. The program chairman announced that as nearly as possible the program which was mapped out by the state chairman would be followed. The Red Cross chairman asked that clothes not needed at home be sent for use of needy children. The membership chairman urged the parents to join the association, and stated that in order to have a superior association, 50% of the parents should be members.

Before the meeting was adjourned, an invitation was given the parents to visit the rooms of their children.
