Consideration, $1,000.00 Date 18th day of March, 1914. Due 18th day of March, 1915.

Filed for registration on the 18 day of Mch 1914, at 5:30 o'clock P.M., and duly recorded in the office of Register of Deeds of Guilford County, N. C., in Book No. 259, Page 516, Etc.

This Indenture, Made this the 18th, day of March, 1914 by Hazel F. Shipman and husband, W. G. Shipman his wife of Guilford County and State of North Carolina, parties of the first part, to Snow Lumber Company of Guilford County and State of North Carolina, party of the second part,

WITNESSETH, That the said parties of the first part, in consideration of [$1,000.00] ONE THOUSAND AND NO/100 Dollars to them paid by the said party of the second part, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, have bargained and sold, and by these presents do bargain, sell, and convey unto the said party of the second part, its successors and assigns a tract or parcel of land, in the County of Guilford and State of North Carolina, in High Point Township, and described as follows, viz:

Four lots, known, numbered and designated on the map of "Quaker Church Place" of The Home Investment and Improvement Company's land, which said map is duly recorded in the office of the Register of Deeds of Guilford County in Plat Book No. 2, page 116 as lots Nos. nine (#9), ten (#10), eleven (#11), and twelve (#12) in Block No. three (#3), lots numbers nine (#9) and ten (#10) being located on the North side of Thurston Street, facing One Hundred (100) feet on said street and extending in a Northern direction the same uniform width a depth of One HundredFifty (150) feet to an ally, lots numbers eleven (#11) and twelve (#12) being of the following dimensions: On the North line 100 feet, on the South line 100 feet, on the East line 140.50 feet, and on the West line 144.60 feet, said lots being located North of said alley.

To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land and all privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging to the said party of the second part and its sucessors and assigns forever; Provided always, and these presents are upon the express condition that if the said parties of the first part pay, or cause to be paid, to the said party of the second part the full sum of [$1,000.00] ONE THOUSAND AND NO/100 Dollars, on or before the 18th day of March, 1915, with interest thereon, payable annually at the rate of six per cent. per annum till paid according to the terms of one certain bond bearing even date herewith, executed by the said Hazel F. Shipman and husband, W. G. Shipman then these presents and the said bond shall determine and be void.

But in case of the non-payment of the said sum of [$1,000.00] ONE THOUSAND AND NO/100 Dollars, or any part thereof, together with its interest at the time above limited, then in such case it shall be lawful for the said party of the second part, its successors or assigns and they are hereby so empowered to sell and convey the above described premises, or any part thereof, at public auction to the highest bidder, for cash, after advertising the same for thirty days at least, and on such sale to execute to the purchaser sufficient deeds therefor, apply the proceeds of such sale to the discharge of said debt and interest, rendering the overplus monies, if any, to the said parties of the first part, or legal representatives, after deducting the cost of such sale and registration of this deed.

STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA, GUILFORD COUNTY.

I, J. Allen Austin, a Notary Public of said County, do hereby certify that Hazel F. Shipman and her husband, W. G. Shipman grantors, personally appeared before me this day and acknowledged the execution of the foregoing mortgage deed, and the said Hazel F. Shipman being by me privately examined, separate and apart from her said husband, touching her voluntary execution of the same, doth state that she signed the same freely and voluntarily, without fear or compulsion of her said husband, or any other person, and that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto. Let the said mortgage deed and this certificate be registered.

When this mortgage is paid in full, have the mortgagee to sign it, and the note, before a Clerk of the Superior Court or Notary Public, or go mark it "Satisfied" on the Record, or execute a Release Deed. Satisfied in full, this the [blank] day of [blank] 191[blank] [?] Mortgagee.
