[letterhead: U.S. MARINE CORPS]

Sept 28, 1943
San Diego, Cal

Dear Eva:

Well I have just finished writing Faison
a letter so I thought I would write you
and Harry a line. There isn't much to write
about, I am still doing the same thing trying
to teach recruits. It will be a year next
month since I was home, from the looks
of things I guess it will be quite awhile
before I can get a leave. I may be able
to get one after xmas. This will be the
fourth xmas I have been gone. This is
the last year of my four year enlistment.
I guess I will spend longer than four

Note: Letter is written on U.S. Marine Corps stationary with a colorful heading graphic depicting parachuting troops, two military planes, PT boat by an island with palm trees, and two infantry solders with rifles. Centered in the graphic is the marine logo of an eagle holding a banner "SEMPER FIDELIS" in its beak sitting on a globe with an anchor. Blue and green rays project from the center of the graphic to the edge of the page.
