The February 5th meeting of the High Point Garden
Club was a luncheon at the Emerywood Country Club in honor of
the state president, Mrs. Wesley Taylor and the Piedmont Dis-
trict Director, Mrs. H. A. Millis. There were 32 members and
guests present.
Mrs. S. C. Clark chairman of Roadside Beautification
Com. gave an interesting report of work in progress between
High Point and Sedgefield, [by] the aid of Federal Relief work-
ers. It was moved and seconded to help finance the purchase
of some needed shrubs to supplement the native material for
this purpose. Thirty dollars was decided upon.
Mrs. Millis outlined plans for the erection of a
drinking fountain on the highway near the city park. She
also spoke of the District Meeting to be held in High Point
on March 28th.
Following the luncheon Mrs. Wesley Taylor spoke in-
formally of the state and national work. As national chairman
of transportation to the Los Angeles meeting she gave us inter-
esting details of this meeting, which includes an extended tour
to Japan for a class in Japanese flower arrangement.
Both honor guests were presented with small gifts. To Mrs. Taylor
a white pottery vase, and to Mrs. Millis a hand made flower holder.
