The day in the woods has been postponed again because the day set May 26 is just before our city flower show.

Mrs. King who recently attended the New York Flower Show gave us some of her impressions of this great show held in Grand Central Palace and attended by 175000 people. Her descriptions of the wonderful roses, orchids, lilies and many other flowers, as well as different types of gardens, make us all eager for an opportunity to see for ourselves.

Adjourned to meet Apr. 28 with Mrs. J.D. Cox.

We were fortunate in having with us Mrs. Julius Cone of Greensboro who spoke on Flower Arrangement, We has expected her to have some flower arrangements for illustration but she made her points so clear as to suitable combinations of color and blossom, suggestions as to height of flowers and suitable containers, that we had very definite picture[s?] of her ideas.

A most interesting meeting of The High Point Garden Club was held May 12, at the home of Mrs. A. J. Parker with Mrs. White presiding.

After roll call the minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

The treasurer reported $88.96 on hand.

Mrs. White urged all club members to co-operate with the committee appointed to make the rock garden for the Flower Show - by supplying any suitable plants. for

Mrs. Tomlinson showed to the club the design drawn by Mrs. Chas. Perry of the Midweek Garden Club which was adopted by the National Council of State Garden Club Federation. The seal is beautiful in detail being a conventionalized columbine, and will appear on their stationery, the National Bulletin and on any medals the Federation may award.

In her characteristically beautiful manner Mrs. Wingate Andrews presented the program which had as its subject Flowers in Music, Art and Poetry. She touched upon flowers in the art of various countries from ancient to modern time giving a vivid and

broad conception of the use of flowers in many phases of art, including stained glass windows, parchment, tapestry and wood carving. Her discussion of flowers in poetry was just as comprehensive and very appealing in a number of poems which she read. She left that part of her subject which touched upon flowers in music to Mrs. Gurney Briggs, Mrs. H. D. Coffield and Miss Florence Blair who presented the following program :

ANNUAL REPORT 1931-1932

HIGH POINT

HIGH POINT GARDEN CLUB

President Mrs. H. A. White

Secretary Mrs. Carter Dalton

Many and varied have been our activities over an eight year period of organization.

It was our privilege to entertain the first state meeting in October 1926. Again it was our pleasure to assist in entertaing the state meeting for 1932. At that first meeting there were seven clubs representing the state organization. To-day there are more than thirty.

During the past twelve months our club sponsored the organization of a Garden Club Council in High Point and our own President Mrs H. A. White is the Council President.

We assisted in the Spring Flower Show.

Our club made a delightful tour in October to some near by historic gardens the Penn Garden in Madison and the Smith-Williams Garden in Forsyth.

We have subscribed more than a 100% to the book on North Carolina Flora. Our valued member Mrs S. H. Tomlinson has been untiring in her efforts to have this book published and put into the hands of all North Carolina flower lovers.

Another member of our club Mrs Elwood Cox has assembled an extensive and valuable Garden Library. This she has generously offered to any garden club member in the City of High Point.

In spite of financial embarrassments and sickness in our ranks we feel that the year 1931-32 has been profitable and inspiring.
