later & it was moved & seconded that her resignation be accepted.

Unfinished business before the Club consisted of the report of Mrs. White, Chairman of the Program Committee, which was accepted.

It was decided to elect new members at this meeting to fill the vacancies caused by the resignation of three members, & after being moved & seconded, five names were proposed.

After the ballot was cast it was found that only two members were elected at this time. Mrs. W. C. Beavans & Mrs. J. W. Harris, & the Secretary was instructed to notify these new members of their election.

Two additional associate members were elected by acclaimation, this action being duly moved & seconded, & Mrs. S. L. Alderman & Miss

Virginia Ragsdale were elected.

The Treasurer made a report of all disbursements, with a balance of $49.54 on hand, & this report was accepted.

The program for the morning on the subject of "Planning the Garden" had Mrs. McEwen as leader & she read a very interesting paper on the subject.

A short talk by Mrs. F. R. Taylor on "Uniting the House & Garden", one by Mrs. J. W. Moore on "Privacy in the Garden" & one by Mrs. A. E. Tate on "The Minimum Care of a Garden" concluded the program for the morning.

As there was no further business the meeting adjourned to meet with Mrs. E. T. Harmon Oct 25.

The High Point Garden Club met Tuesday morning, October 25th, in the house of Mrs. E. T. Harmon, with a gratifying number of members present.

At this time were welcomed two new active members & two associate members. After the roll-call the minutes of the last meeting were read & accepted.

It was suggested that a friendly note be written the new club just organized, the Burbank Garden Club, assuring them of our interest & co-operation.

Mrs. [Gopen?], our State President, is very anxious that all Clubs in the State put on an early campaign for the preservation of Christmas greens & for the living Christmas trees. The Chair was asked to appoint a committee to take this publicity work in hand.

& discussion at the next meeting, which is to be in the nature of a consultation with Mr Tillson.

Mrs. Elwood Cox gave us a most interesting & instructive talk founded on her wide experience in the planting of fall bulbs & seeds.

The meeting then adjourned to meet November eighth with Mrs. J. E. Kirkman.

On the morning of November the eighth the High Point Garden Club met at the home of Mrs. J. E. Kirkman. At this meeting the Mid Week Garden Club was asked to meet with us to listen to a talk by Mr. Tillson, local landscape architect. This talk was a most interesting one, having for its subject native plants, vines, etc., & Mr. Tillson very willingly answered any questions put to him by the club members - thereby giving us much valuable information.

A letter of invitation from the Mid-Week Garden Club was read, asking the High Point Garden Club to meet with them at their regular meeting of November sixteenth, to hear a talk by Mr. Paul Lindley of Greensboro.
