at 3:30 in the Library of Elm Street School with Mrs. W. A. White of Jamestown speaking on the subject of "appreciation". An urgent request for the presence at this meeting of both parents and teachers was extended.

Mr. Huff of the High Point City Health Department read a most interesting report on "Immunization of the Child." This paper was heard with keen interest.

Miss Margaret Chatfield's fifth grade gave a short playlet in commemoration of Armistice Day.

Dr. T. Wingate Andrews, Superintendent of the City Schools explained to the parents the new report forms which are being used in the system this fall.

Before the meeting was adjourned an invitation was extended the parents to visit in the rooms of their children.

The attendance award - an aquarium, went to Miss Chatfield's fifth grade.

December 15, 1936.

On the evening of December 15, 1936 the third meeting of the Elm Street Parent-Teachers Association was held in the school auditorium. The meeting was called to order by the President, Mrs. H. P. Morrison. After the singing of the song, "O Come All Ye Faithful" the minutes were read by the secretary. Reports were then given by committee chairmen. Mrs. Gray announced that if as many as ten parents subscribed to the Parents magazine each subscription would be $.75 for the year. It is hoped that as many as feel that they can will take the magazine for it is quite beneficial. A report for the Child Welfare committee of which Mrs. Hutchins is chairman was given by Mrs. D. R. Schroder. Thirteen needy children in our school have been given hot lunches. Clothing has been given to those who have been needy. This committee wishes to thank all who made this possible. chairman of the legislative committee, presented a legislative program which was endorsed by the Elm Street Association. This program provides for (1) restoration of teachers' salaries; (2) lengthen the term of the school to nine months; and (3) strengthen the professional requirements of the teachers. The treasurer, Miss Mary Clegg, reported a balance of $20.10 in the treasury. The Needlework Guild which has recently been organized in this city was introduced to the association by Mrs. Schroder. This Guild is sponsored by the Woman's Club. Its main purpose is to accumulate and distribute new clothing to the destitute children of High Point. Mrs. Morrison was appointed as director for the organization to represent Elm Street School.

Mrs. Ingram, chairman of the program committee, took charge of the program and announced a Christmas play by Miss Frances Crary's fourth grade. Following the play Mrs. Ingram introduced Mr. Tom

Sykes, Pastor of the Friends Church who gave an inspiring talk on the "True Spirit of Christmas."

February 9, 1937

On the evening of February 9, 1937 the regular monthly meeting of the Elm Street Parent-Teacher Association was held in the Elm Street School auditorium. The meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. H. P. Morrison. A group of first grade children under the direction of Miss Clegg and accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Smith sang a group of songs appropriate to the season. The minutes of the last meeting were read by the secretary, after which reports were made by the chairmen of the various committees. Mrs. Gray, asked again that as many as possible would take the Parent-Teacher magazine.
