This Indenture made October the 17th 1849 between John Gorden of the county of Guilford and State of North Carolina of the one part and John M. Hedgecock of the same place of the other part

Witnesseth that the sd John Gorden for and in consideration of the sum of Fifteen Dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledgd hath given granted released and confirmed and by these pres-ents does give grant release & confirm unto the sd John M Hedgecock his heirs and assigns forever all that tract or parcel of Land lying & being in the county of Guilford and State aforesd on the waters of Deep River. --

Beginning at a Blackjack Running east thirty eight pole to a stake thence due south nine pole to a stake thence west thence west thirty eight poles thence north nine poles to the Beginning, Containing 2 acres 22 poles to the same more or less To have and to hold sd Land to gether with all appertainances there unto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the sd John Gordon doth covenant and agree with the sd John M Hedgecock that he is lawfull seized

in fee of sd Land and premises and that he will & his heirs and assigns will warrant and forever defend sd Title unto the the said John M. Hedgecock his heirs and assigns forever against the lawful claims of all persons, in witness wherof I the sd John Gorden have hereto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and date above written
