REFORMATORY FOR WOMEN
MEMORANDUM

Date: 12/9/50

To: Dr. Van Waters

From: Miss Dickinson

Re: Grace Morrell

I interviewed Grace's mother
this afternoon and during the interview she
told me that one of the many persons to whom
she has been to try to get Grace paroled had
told her to see you or have Grace's husband
do so. I told here that there was nothing that
anyone could do to get her paroled for
Christmas, unless the Parole Board had been
willing to act-which she says it was not.

After the interview, the Officer
who took it told me that there was an
indication that the husband has an appointment
with you on Tuesday, December 12th. I am
on a Field Trip on Monday the 11th and
thought you should know what had gone
before so that if you have an appointment
you will be prepared.

Mrs. Conroy, Grace's mother had
told her that she would be at home for
Christmas-- that there was no question whatever.
I have done all I could to prepare her for
what happened today. She has been told that
the only thing that I can say positively
and know that it is true, is that she will
see the Board in 14 months from the time
of her admission and that it is always
possible that she may see an early board
but that there is nothing definite about
that.
