Dear Doctor:
First of all I want to thank you for the fine letters you
wrote me at Christmas time-Your fat check was a nice present,
and I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate you dear friend.
You are always on the job and you never forget. The best thing
about you is that you never lose the Christmas spirit, but
keep it with you all the time and sort of live by it.

Over here I had a pretty good Christmas-My Dad + brother-
in-law visited me Monday the 24th. The visit did us all good. They
are all well and asked about you. Ralph (Bro-in law) reported he
and his son, the flier, had brought a case of beer for Christmas, but admitted
with a note of sadness that they were too eager to sample it and had
finished the entire case without deciding the merit of the brew!
Nothing like that will happen to me and you, why the idea! We could
surely come to a decision without drinking more than half a case!
All nonesense aside tho we did have a fine visit. I was happy to see
them and I feel certain that they feel much better as a result of your talk.

Tell me something about Anne Gladding's grand appearance?
I am pleased to always hear some report on her accomplishments.

I can see no point in singing the blues because I am here
instead of there among my friends - While no body was ever more
serious than I about wanting out of here, there is more to be gained
by being cheerful and having a bright outlook - Which I suppose is faith.

Your letter of the 23rd was a dandy - However, I reserve
