Dear Miss Van Waters
I have just received your letter, very glad to have heard from you. Im giving Jimmy one of your pictures to give you. I did a portrait of you in charcoal Jimmy has it and will give it to you, if come out nice.
Im in the farm now and working good Is reall nice to be out side walls itls like freedom to me after 7 years Im planning to keep up my painting when Im released and hoping to make a future of it. I have no help out there for my don't care much but I think I have a few friend I can count on very few.
I well and eating good, no Im not on SDG as of yet but there thinking about making soon for me.
I just got back from Wed night church for lent. I got a letter from my mother the first one in 5 months. She getting for my birthday witch is in May 7th I Always get me then
I hope you well and missed seeing you when you were down Im told me you asked about me, Im very greatful for that
Im glad you liked the painting, and others like it also and hope you like the portrait I did for you. Since yours to fram.

I dont see much of Jim or Don to much for Im in the farm now, but I see them every week and there doing well.
There isnt much to write about for every thing is about the same so I hope you write and let me know how you like the picture and thanks for writing. I love to receive mail but have no one to write to or get mail from, wish I did, it gets lonely.

Dear Friend
I have received your nice letter.
I have good news Judge R Pence wrote me a letter. Im going back to court Aug 2, 65 to a new hearing and resentence at 10 o clock in the morning, he's going to cut my sentence, as for a lawyer I had one come to see me, but he sent the one taking my case. The Defenders committee is going to send one with me when I go to court. I dont know what his name is, you can find out at the Defenders Committe

I hope you get in touch with him for I'll need all the help I can get, so Aug 2 65 at 1 I'll be up in front of Judge Pence in East Cambridge Court House. wish you could be there if possible to speak for me. I got to much time for the crime I did so I'll be getting a cut on the sentence I may get one year at a house of correction hope so please try and check on the lawyer I'll be having, believe me I dont know his name, all the other lawyer said was I'll have a lawyer there with me and thanks ever so much for writing to Judge Pence. I know it will be a big help.
I already got my art supplies I'm just waiting for room in avocation then I'll start painting again

I'm well and doing good. I havent started work yet, but I thing I'm going to work in the print shop starting monday.
I hope your well and not sick I went to mass today, a fellow died the other day, of heart trouble so they had a mass for him, he was a swell guy, I said a prayer for you. Well thats about it for now God Bless you
