No wheel to-day. Half session to-day. Called
on Dr. Morong and found him much as when
I saw him two days ago. He is very very
weak, and this is aggravated by a bad attack
of loose bowels for the last 5 days. Dr. Kennedy
yesterday gave me $40 to give his as a present,
and Dr. Morong was much touched by it. It is but
one instance of Dr. Kennedy's unostentatious way of
giving relief to those who need it, for he told
me not to mention his name. I lunched
with Mr. Churchill whom I have not seen for
a long time. We had a nice talk, and Mr C
told me that he was probably going to
So. Va. next week to collect. We went
to the Latin Play of Phormio to-night.
It was a great success. I have read the
play so much that that I enjoyed every sentence.
It was enthusiastically received, and Prof.
Greenough was called out with loud cries.
Suksdorf sent me recently a Potamogeton called
{Potamogeton} columbiana, n.sp. : named to commemorate the season by whom
named I know not

Dr. M. said to-day that is was only a form, and a
common form at that, of {Potamogeton} pectinatus. He hasnt
seen my specimen, but he saw the same thing at
the Herbarium in New York.
