Brookline 24 January 1817.

Dear Husband,

It is now tuesday noon,
Mr Ingersoll has just left you No. 46. which I ought to
have had several days ago, as brother John says in a note.
In spite of a multitude of obstacles, I have taken my pen.
I am extremely disappointed in your staying so long in [Barn?]
as it must prevent your returning so soon as I had hoped.
I confidently expected you would be with us by saturday eve.
Lordsday, 12. I had a very pleasant day. I found Dr P. very agreeable,
he dined with Mr Hyslop, and altho' it was very cold he
returned to Malden in the evening, he did not exceed
an hour in each service, and omitted the scripture.
Tuesday 14. I went to Boston with Mr Hyslop, I had a pleasant
visit. I spent the first afternoon with Mrs Walley, found
them all in good health and spirits, brother J. went for me.
Wednesday we had a family party at Johns. I regretted you
were not with me. I never saw them all in better spirits.
Thursday we met at Lewis. Sister Sarah was quite zealous
to go, altho' it snowed fast. We walked to, and from, Lewis.
Friday we all dined at Charles's, had in addition Mr Mans-
field an lady. Ann sent for all my relations to tea, with
out my knowing any thing of it previous. I had intend-
ed returning that afternoon with Mr Barry, but
found he was to bring out a hog in his sleigh.
The only day of sleighing since you left us. Saturday -
morning Mr Goddard went to Boston expressly for me,
he has been very kind at all times.
