Calix one 10 leafes 10 very long lanceolate segts in ye outer Cup — The inner cup — one leaf 5 shallow clefts. rest- like European

officinalis [Althaea officinalis] agrees very well the leaves are ovate, acuminated, slightly serrate. — Grows in a pond hole — Blossoms purple not I believe — tho^ not then in full bloom

92 Calix. Parmaent Perianth of one leaf, divided at ye limb into 5 roundish concave, erect or some wt conivent segts with their borders laping ing

Corol. one petal — tube ovate, longer than ye calix, ye mouth divided into 5 small unequal segts — some wt (gaping or) ringent, ye 2 upper segts largest & bent inward, ye lower segt smallest & reflected.

Stam. 5 short filaments, rising from ye tube — & shorter than ye tube, one of them adhering to ye upper side of ye tube, ye other 4 approaching to gether at ye base of ye lower segt.

Augt. 29th Wenham Pound, Yellow flower — diand. monog.

Calix consists of a perianth Gratiola ? The calix has two small outer leaves between the the 2 upper leaves of ye Perianth — which is very deeply divided into 5 ovate acum

Corol — one leaf — tubular — cylindrical some what angular — very long — Limb divided into 4 circular, patent segts, emerginated, borders laping, the — the upper segt largest & ye borders lapping over ye other two neat to it — the lower segt rather smallest — ye borders of ye 2 lateral segts laping upon it — the inside of the tube hairy — ye mouth some what ringent —

Stam — 2 short small filaments, adhering to ye rising from ye tub near to= =gether below ye upper segt — Shorter than ye tube — Anthera flatish, adhering together.

Pistil — Germen ovate — Style cylindrical ovate — erect. Stigma, roundish concave, bent down wards —

Capsul ovate, 2 cells & valves —

Seeds Numerous very small

Stems round, 4 or 5 inches high. Leaves small opposite, intire, sessile, lanceolate Blossom
