I have rec'd yo[u]r G H fav[ou]r by the Packett, am very Glad to
find that you begin to feel the ill Consequences of the -
Stamp Act, & I look upon it that the Stoppage of Import[in]g
Goods & the failure of Remittances w[hi]ch must fail if our Trade
be gone will have as good an Effect as we can Desire, &
I pray you will Exert yo[u]r selves for us.- as to the Rash=
ness yo[u]r G H mentions we have been guilt of, I look
upon it that no such rash measures have been Taken
in what particular Respects the Stamp Act, The Injury-
that has been Done the Lieu[tenan]t Gov[erno]r was quite a different
Affair & was ^not done by this Town, & is what I abhor & Detest
as much as any man breathing & would go great lengths
in Repairing his Loss, but an opposition to the Stamp Act
is highly Commendable, when I say that I dont mean
that every Step that has been Taken is so; but as a people,
& a wide Extended Country, the general Dislike & Opposi=
tion to the act is Commendable, But I have said enough
to Convince you of my Dislike to it, & I pray we may be Re=
=liev'd.- ~

I now Inclose you my Bill of this Date on
