leave this place for the Continent, & hope for
for the pleasure of seeing You. I think it probable
that the bussiness on which I go will detain me
there a number of months. On my arrival
in Boston will recount you my prospects with
much Satisfaction. Mean time give me leave
to solicit your correspondence with, & interest
in behalf of, my Friend & Patron Mr Cuesta.

This market is now the best in all
the West India Islands. But one Cargo of
German Goods has arrived here for these five
months past, and but few Vessels from the United
States. There are but from twelve to fifteen
American Vessels now in Port. Those which
have arrived brought but parts of Cargos, having
been "Gutted" at New Providence by the
English. The depredations by the English on the
American Flag is incredible. It exceeds that
of 1794. There are now in the Port of Nausau,
condemned, upwards of forty American Vessels.
These condemnations have all taken place in
the course of Eight weeks past. Another
circumstance which tends to the injury
of this place is the prohibition of the Slave
Trade by the American Government. Flour
is now at 18 dolls. & rising. Common Beef 14
dls. Boards 45 dls. Catalonia wine @ 80 to
90 dls. Hams 50 cts p lb. All kinds of German
goods in demand. The only articles
which are not quick at the present moment
