My "dearest" daughter:

I take my pen in hand, (instead of pencil), to answer your precious letter with six enclosed which I received yesterday. It found me recovering from an unusual sickness. I was taken ill in the prayer meeting on Friday night. Left before it closed and got home none too soon. I was seized with purging and vomiting and continued nearly all night. Jennie had to be up with me

She was paid off and discharged from her position last night, but hopes to have another place in a very short time. Called on Dr. Hudson. Found him well. He inquired after you. He was pleased to see me. Mrs. W. lent me her pretty lace cape, (don't tell. Nobody knows it). I then called at the Asylum to see Mary Taggart. Did not get to see her as she had gone for a walk to the orchard and I could not wait for her return but I learned she was quite well. Jessie Blackburn works there.

Sarah and Mother walked up from the street cars and Archie too. They all were inquiring after you. Mrs. Day's baby is two weeks old. Both are well. Ella F, [?], eley died last Sabbath in her chair of consumption, of the heart. Had not been ill long. I received an other letter from Berlin last week, dictated by Aunt Mary and written by Amy. address as they want to get him on the farm. I will try to get the address of Archie and send to them. They insist upon me visiting them and say they will pay my expenses there if I will come and give me lots of things, if I come, but I have no notion of going. Aunt Sade has, sometimes, 7 men to cook for and, sometimes, none. Katie came yesterday for her laundry. She wanted to know why I did not go to Berlin. I told her if she would get me some new clothes, maybe, I would. She said she could not get all the cloths she wanted for herself. I told her I thought her and
