Dear Mrs Grandy:

It's Sunday night 10 p.m. and I am sleepy enough to lay on the floor and sleep untill sunrise in the morning, if only I could. Was glad to receive your letter and would have answered ere this, only there hasn't been a moment's spare time. When I went to Huntington Beach, found my friend had been quite sick. so I took charge of her for several days until I had a call back here. Not the one I was expecting tho., but where I had just left. The baby could not be managed so I returned Friday evening. Sunday, two good people planned ice cream for one. Had invited some friends for the afternoon, so thought they would take a drive and get some extra cream in the forenoon. They wanted to take baby, but I wouldn't let her. and it's lucky they didn't for they had

Very nervous while he had his leg broken, a bad break and he has been suffering much with it. So I am here as chief nurse. + it's while attending him I'm writing between acts. so you must overlook any and all omitions + mistakes. Poor little baby, cries so with colic. Now about renting land, this Mr. Cornwall, [Oswald ?], is a real estate man + knows the local conditions well. Says there's little chance to

3 rent. The [Japs, Jeffs ?] pay 25.00 twenty five dollars per year rent for land with no improvements and are glad to get anything at any price, so don't think there's much chance to rent a place. Land is becoming more valuable in this section and I only wish I had a home here. I like it more and more + think I'll soon be up this way.

Well, I lost my cow and it certainly makes me feel blue. I hope all is well with you. + the children don't cough much. I heard Mrs. Zella was at the Anaheim Sanatarium. Had an operation. She is doing nicely. Her mother lives there. Well it's now 5 minutes of midnight and I can scarcely hold my eyes open. Will try + do better when there's more time and conditions are better.
