The State of Texas County of Rusk } Survey of 300 acres of land made for N. B. Branch by virtue of his presumptive right Situate in Rusk County about 20 1/2 miles S 13° E from the Town of Henderson Beginning at a Point 80 [[var?]] North of a point 662 [[var?]] west of the S W Corner of Elisha [[Irons Survey?]] of 320 acres a port Oak 20 inches dia marked thus "X" for Corners [[Thence?]] South 1344 [[var?]] to post from which a pine 30= in de bis S 60° E 8 vars Thence West 1344 vars to post from which @ pine 20 in de bis S 73° W 9 vars another 18 in de bis S 45° W 10 . v Thence North 1344 vars to post firm which @ Red Oak N 60° E 5 vars post Oak 24 in de bis S 11° E 9 vars Thence East 1344 vars as the plan of Beginning

The State of Texas Coutny of Rusk } Before me the undersigned Authority this day personally appeared M. H. Wadsworth and Webster Flanagan both to me well known and often being only sworn on oath says that Norman N. Branch has lived upon and cultivated the Land described in the within field notes for the space of three years and that he has done and performed all the requirements of an act passed Jan 22nd A. D. 1845 and an Amendatory act passed Feb. 10th A. D. 1852 granting pre-empticis privileges to settlers upon the public vacant domain [illegible] to & subscribed before me. M H Wadsworth Webster Flanagan

Given under my hand and seal of office at office in Henderson this the 23rd day of September A. D. 1854

The State of Texas County of Rusk } personally approved before me the undersigned authority N. B. Branch who after being duly Sworn Saith on oath that he is the occupant of a certain Tract of Land & he believes the same to be vacant & Claims 320 Acres as a homestead agreeable to the presumptive Law made and provided in Such Cases Sworn to and Subscribed before me this 4 dy August 1857 N. B. Branch
