Fort Worth, Texas, December 17th, 1906.

Hon.Mayor and City Council,

Gentlemen:-

We, your police committee, after mature consideration have the honor to report to your honorable body that we deem it advisable to, at once, strengthen our police department by adding eight men to theforce. We deem this advisable in view of the fact that our city has so far outgrown its former size of a few years past, we find the residence portion of our city almost entirely destitute of police protection and absolutely at the mercy of the ever ready marauder that continually infests our city.

In view of the prevailing condition we would suggest that the above recommendation be granted and that it take effect at once.

Respectfully submitted,

Jake F. Zurn B. L. Waggoman Police Committee.

Fort Worth, Texas, December 17th, 1906.

To the Honorable Mayor and City Council of the City of Fort Worth:

Gentlemen:-

Thanking you for deferring action on December 3rd, on the garbage proposition which is now before you, we beg to say, that we, as representatives of the Southern Reduction Company of St. Louis, came to your city some days ago and have made a thorough investigation of the situation. However, we are not able to make you a proposition at this meeting and ask you kindly to defer your action until January 15th, at which time we will submit you a proposition to gather and dispose of, by the most sanitary method known to science of all the garbage and refuse which may accumulate in your city. As this will require an outlay of considerable capital, it is necessary to consult with our associates before we can submit a definite proposition. By our method of reduction, we have done away with all the obnoxious gases that have heretofore, been so objectionable to plants of this kind.

We build and operate in connection with our plants, fertilizing factories which, in this city, would be an enterprise of considerable magnitude. By our method of gathering and dispensing of the garbage, we can save the city or citizens from fifty to seventy five per cent, of the costs of removing the same under the present and customary methods here.

We feel confident that if we are given an opportunity to present our proposition, you will be sufficiently interested to give the matter serious consideration.

Respectfully submitted,

L. P. Dreyfus & Mr. Hanson by Max K. Mayer & Ike Awym Attys.
