FORT WORTH.
CITY WATER WORKS

CHAS. G. HARROLD, Chairman Water Committee
H. L. CALHOUN, Act. Superintendent

FORT WORTH, TEXAS Nov. I9th,06. 190 ________

Hon.Mayor and City Council,

Gentlemen;-

We, your committee on Water Works, beg to rec-
ommend that the bid of the United States Cast Iron Pipe and Foundry Co,
of Birmingham,Ala, be accepted for 44oo feet sixteen inch cast iron
pipe and 68oo feet eighteen inch, at $38.00 per ton delivered F.O.B. cars
Powell Switch,Texas. said pipe to be of the following average weights,
For sixteen inch pipe, I08 pounds to the foot, and for eighteen inch
I29 pounds per foot.

While the bid of the United States Cast Iron pipe & Foundry Co is
somewhat higher than that of the Penetentiary, we believe that, in view
of the probable change of administration of the Penetentiary Foundry
on the first of the year, and the further condition that the Foundry impos
es as to time of delivery, same being four months from January First,
and the still further fact of the better quality of the Birmingham pipe,
and the terms of the Birmingham pipe contract that they will begin delivery
between Jan. Dec.I& 15th, and make shipment as fast as desired of the I8" and
will deliver the sixteen inch immediately, we think that the interests
of the city will best be subserved in placing the order with these people
and therefore so recommend.

Respectfully submitted,
