To the Honorable Mayor and City Council,

Gentlemen:-

Having been instructed by the Mayor to ascertain
the cost of an apparatus to do the city sprinkling, we beg to make
the following report:

New sprinkling wagons will cost $329 delivered f.o.b. Ft.
Worth and such teams as would be required for these wagons would cost
not less than $300 per pair, and there is some doubt in our minds if
this would be sufficient to purchase such teams as would be required
to pull the heavy wagons. Harness will cost $40 per pair, making a
total of $669 to equip one wagon. If 7 wagons are required it would
require 7 times that amount, if 10 wagons are required it will require
10 times that amount. We also submit the following communication
from Mr. Wm. Capps, Pres't of the Ft. Worth Sprinkling Co.

May 15th, 1906.

Mr. E. P. Maddox,
Chairman Purchasing COmmittee,
Fort Worth, Tex.

Dear Sir:-

I herewith submit to you a price on the Fort Worth Sprink-
ling Company, which consists of ten sprinklers, to be delivered to you
in firstclass condition, nine miles and seven head of horses, harness
and other appliances, for which I think $5000.00 would be reasonable,
but, in order to close the matter out at once, I would be willing to
sell it to the city for $4500.00, to be paid in two notes, due twelve
and twenty-four months after dates, with seven per cent interest.

"I believe after you investigate the matter and look into
the stuff, that you will be willing to allow me this amount for it,
as I think the price is very reasonable.

Yours truly,
WM. Capps."

Upon investigation we find that the wagons appear to be in
good repair, upon which we have placed an estimate of $150 per wagon.
There are nine head of mules upon which we place an estimate of
$162.50 per head, three teams of horses at $300 per pair, and one
