Synopsis

Early in April, Mrs. A.Y. Broiles applied for Auditorium free, from May 1st for from 4 to 6 weeks to be used for preaching purposes. The Council granted that application, and later Mrs. Broiles cancelled the dates. At the last meeting of Council May 1st 1906, H. S. Broiles applied to the Council for the use of Auditorium free from May 24th to June 20 1906 - and that application was referred to the Public Building Committee and Mayor with power to act. Said Committee and Mayor did act and refused to grant the request, but instructed the City Secretary to notify Dr. Broiles that for one or two nights he could use the Auditorium free, but it could not be used for an indfinate time and the City Secretary so notified Dr. Broiles, now Mrs. Broiles again applies for use of Auditoreum free May 24 to June 20, - free.

To the Mayor & City Council

Gentlemen:

In reference to procuring City Auditorium from May 20 to about June 20 for Dr. Wm. B. Gentry, will say that it was procured from the former Council for a few weeks to have begun about May 1 - Nov. as the date is changed. I thought it showing proper courtesy to again apply to you as he will be here May 24 and remain a few weeks — probably till June 20 not later.

Of course he will give way for school exercises &c.

I trust you may exend same courtesy as the former Mayor & Council did.

Respectfully, Mrs. A. Y. Broiles by H. S. Broiles

J. H. MADDOX CHIEF

LEM E. DAY ASS'T CHIEF

POLICE DEPARTMENT CITY OF FORT WORTH

FORT WORTH, TEXAS May 7th, 1906. 190__

Hon Mayor and City Council,

Gnetlemen:–

I beg to call your attention to the many complaints that are being almost hourly filed in my office by the citizens of this city of the many worthless, and ownerless dogs that now infest this city. They have become so numerous in parts of the city that they make living in peace a matter of impossibility. After mature consideration, I have the honor to recomend to your honorable body to re-establish the Dog Pound and start the dog wagon. Experience has proven that this is the only expedient and the less expensive way to rid the city of this worthless curse. I would ask your honorable body to take this matter up and act on it at once, that we may in a manner, rid the city of them before the hot summer days have materialized and added danger to the now existing pest.

Trusting you will give this your immediate and favorable consideration, I am,

Yours very truly, J.H. Maddox Chief of Police.
