FORT WORTH FIRE DEPARTMENT
TELEPHONE No. 26
FORT WORTH, TEXAS, August-5th-1904.
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council:
Gentlemen;-
Mr. H.G. Glosson, a member of the department, has been sick since the 28th day of May, and was operated on for appendicitis, was in the Hospital for nearly a month, he has just reported for duty the 1st of this month,
I would respectfully recommend to your honorable body that Mr. Glosson, be allowed one half pay for the time he has lost,
While I do not wish to establish a precedent in allowing members of the department half pay when sick, but under the circumstances the position Mr. Glosson, has, that of driver, has a tendency to cause appendix troubles, as the strain on ones stomach in driving fire teams is much greater than in any other line of driving,
Find hereto attached a certificate from the attending Physician who waited on Mr. Glosson,
Hoping that your Honorable body will report favorable on Mr. Glosson's claim, I remain,
Yours Respectfully,
JH Maddox Chief Fire Dep't.
Mr. Glosson's, time at half pay will amount to from May 28th to Aug 1st at $30.00 per month $63.885
