William J. Bailey. FORT WORTH, TEXAS.

Fort Worth, Texas, November 5, 1903.

To the Hon. City Council of the City of Fort Worth:

Gentlemen:

The Board of Equalization for the City of Fort Worth, raised my personal tax for the year of 1900 from $11,025 to $26,000.

This raise was made during my absence from the city, and was evidently made for the purpose of bringing me before the Board, so that a correct assessment of my personal property might be made, after a thorough system of quizing and investigation into my accounts. I failed to go before the Board for the reason that I was out of the city and had no notice of the raise. My personal taxes have never been more than $12,500 per year for any year either before or since the year of 1900.

It would be a manifest injustice to make me pay on property I did not own for the year 1900. I respectfully ask your Honorable Body to put my personal tax for the year 1900 back to the original rendition, to-wit: $11.025.

All of the my other taxes for each year have been paid to the city.

Respectfully, Jas F. Moore By Wm J Bailey Atty
