"Resolved that our representations in
the Legislature be and they are hereby re-
spectfully requested to take such legislative
action and make such necessary changes
in our city charter as may be necessary
to insure the tax-payers of this city
against a compulsory raise in the rate of
city taxation, and if possible such measures
be adopted and steps taken as will in the
wisdom of the Legislature enable the city
to make the sorely needed and extensive
improvements on the streets and in
addition in our public school buildings
and public school facilities generally.
