Fort Worth, Texas, 1st Nov 1902

Hon Mayor and City Council

Gentlemen

I herewith hand you Report of Health
department for month of October 1902
I am pleased to state to you that the
health and sanitary conditions of the
city is good. No evidence of disease, at pres-
ent in the city- but the wet and cold season
now coming on will without doubt increase
our sick list. Our death rate for month of Oct
was very low. being 750 for 1000. For the month,
as I warned you in my former report that the
fall and winter months would see an increase
in Hospital & Pauper work. So it is shown
in Hospital admissions for October being 20
as against 13 for Sept with a proportionate in-
crease in cost. We are not only burdened with
our own sick but scarcely a week passes but
we are called on to care for paupers shipped from other countries
+ states. Very Respectfully

R. Chambers
City Physician
