JOHN B. HAWLEY, CONSULTING ENGINEER, MEMBER AMERICAN SOCIETY CIVIL ENGINEERS, CITY ENGINEER, FORT WORTH.

FORT WORTH, TEXAS August 1st 1902.

Hon. The Mayor and City Council, City.

Gentlemen.

Enclosed please find bids received and opened at 3:00 P.M., this date, on two new rooms for Third Ward School Building.

The bids range from $2350.00 to $1592.40.

In lieu of certified check for $100.00, as advertised, there is a $100.00 National Bank Note attached to the lowest bid, that of Mr.R.L.Brown.

While this is a possible informality, and something utterly unprecidented in our public works contract lettings, still I can see no objection to its substitution in place of check.

I therefore recommend that the work be awarded to Mr.L.R.Brown, and that the Mayor and City Secy. return check so the unsuccessful bidders.

Respectfully, John B. Hawley City Engineer.
