Hon T.J. Powell Mayor We the undersigned alder men would respectfully request that you call a special meeting of the council at the earliest possible day for the consideration of the financial Levation of the city. -

Came to hand on the 22 day of Aug. 1900 and executed on the same day by summoning W.H. Ward, B.L. Waggoman, Thos Murray W.G. Newby, J.F. Henderson, & E.C. Orrick R.H. Tucker, J.F. Lehane & Q.T. Moreland, not found

Whereas the mayor has refused to sign the city's obligation for the purpose of securing money with which to meet the September bond interest which he shall have been forced thereto by the highest court and whereas the default on the interest will insue before the question can be tested in the courts Therefore be it resolved that the city forward in one time the money on hand for said interest payment, with the statement to the bondholders that the remainder will be forwarded as soon as the same shall have been collected. Resolved that W.G. Newby chairman of the finance committee, be inmstructed to proceed to New York City, and there endeavor to make an arrangement with Blair & Co., the city's financial agents, by which the interest owing by the city and falling due prior to or on the first day of January, 1901. will be taken care of by them on behalf of the city and the city's credit thus preserved. And to that end the said Newby is hereby authorized to represent to said Blair & Co. that as fast as moneys come into the hands of the city which arise out of the tax levy for interest the same will be by this council voted and appropriated to pay the interest coupons taken up and cared for by said Blair & Co. together with interest thereon accrued at the time of payment by the city. And be it further resolved that the City Auditor shall furnish to the said Newby such certified statements of matters of record in the city offices as shall be by the said Newby deemed proper for use in carrying out the purpoe aforesaid.
