A Medecen for the Mother
take a quart of stoane Hony and clarifie it over the fier
and scimme it very cleane., then take a handfull of woodbine
dried, and a handfull of Rosemary budds And Rosemary flowers
dried And stampe them fine in a morter, And putt it to the
Hony, and let them boyle halfe an hower, And take and
straine the herbes from the honie againe untill it be sommwhat
thicke. And keepe it close in a wide mouthed glasse. And take
therof to the quantety of a Beane so after as you feele your
selfe greeved wth the saide desease. And you must neither
eate nor drinke w thin two howers after./ this medecin
will continue well a whole yeare.
An approved medecine for the risinge of the
stomacke and fallinge sicknes although
thay fome at the mouth. taught by my
Lady Ceser and by her and others approved./
When you perceive the fitt of the fallinge sicknes to come
then give the partie thre or fower good spoonfulls of spirmints
water and likewise at night when the party goeth to bead
And thus give the party greeved this quantety untill he
have taken the quantety of a ointe: It may be given
to suckinge children, but yf thay will not take it aloane
you may outt a smalle quantety of shuger therin but
it is better to be taken alloane://
A drinke for the Skurvey or Dropsey
taught by Mr Panton the physition:/
Take fower gallons of Ale, one bushell of skurvegrass picked
verie cleane, two handfulls of watercresses that groeth by the water
water side take as much Brooklime and stampe all these together
together in a faire trugg then take two ounces of longe peper
and bruse the saime and two ounces of Graines and make a
bagge and putt all these thinges therin then lett the same
hange in the barrell where you putt your Ale: And so drinke
a good draufte of the saime everie morninge or at
any tyme of the daye when you will:/ Lett the saime
stand a weeke before you drinke the saime://
