The makeing of Rosa solis./
Take a pottle of the best aqua composita put it into a gallon glass
with a pottle of the herb Rosa solis cleane picked and set in the
sunne 3 or 4 dayes bring closely stoped. then take ginger bruise -
Cynamon bruised of each zi whole mace zij any seeds 2 spoonsfull
bruised 2 stickes of liquerice scraped and bruised white sugar Candy
loj. dates cut in smale peeces OO put these into anther gallon glasse
and put thereto you aquacomposita stremed from the rose solis -
and let it stand tillyou have occasion to use it./

To make the same another way.
Take a quart of aquacomposita and as much aquavite of the flowers
called rosa solis a gallonput thereto of ginger nutmegs whole -
maces of each 3/8 a fewe cloves of peper graines any seeds Coriander
seeds of each a pennyworth Sene of allexaandria zj, a sticke of liquerice scraped longe peper 4 Cornes a sticke of Cynamon ~
bruised of the waightof zb, bruise all these together; Take ~
moreover red Corans ziij dates picked and fine minced zii raysins
of the sunne three ounces figgs of algar six or eight muske ~
g. vj. or viij. ambergreece g. vj. of rohite and red Corrall zj. smale
pearles zj. smale shivers of diamonds and rubirs with a quantity
of rohite amber all these being infused in the liquor aforesaid
must bee put in the sunne for the space of 40 dayes at the
least and for closely covered that noe ayre may come into it./

Doctor Stephens aquacomposita
Take a gallon of good gasgon some, ginger, galnigale Cynamon -
nutmegs graines cloves any seeds fennell seeds Caraway seeds
of each zj: then take sage and mints red roses thyme and -
pellitory of the wall rosemary wild thyme Camomill and the
flowers of smals lavender of every one of them iiij Bray -
the spices smale and bruise the herbs and put them in the rone
Let to stand 12 hours stirring it druers times, Then distill -
by lym becke and keepe the first water for that is best, and
the second by it selfe, for it is not soe good as the first, all the
summer

Summer set it in the sunne./

The vertues of this water
It Comforteth the spirritts vitall and helpeth inward diseases -
that come of could and the shakeing of the palsis and cureth -
the contraction of the srimeroes, It helpeth the cpnception
of women that are barren, killeth the worms in the body -
Cureth the murre helpeth the toothache comforteth the stomach -
Cureth the ould dropsis, helpeth the stone in the bladder and -
in the rames of the backe it is good for a satinking breath
so whosoever useth this water now and then , and not too often
it preserveth him in good likeing and shall make him seeme
young very long./

A soveragne medicinne for burneing or scalding./
Take in ay the rootes leaves and flowers of daisies the inner
rinde of Eller tree of each of them iiij: of bramble leaves iiij
beate them together and put thereto of clarified May butter -
lbj: mingle them and boyle them together till the strength -
be out of the herbs Then streine them and keepe the oyntmt.
in a cleane pott and when you use the same, lay over the -
sore annoynted the skurne of ("boars" crossed through) hogs greace or of sheips seroet
to keepe the cloth from cleaveing to the sore./

For lacke of heareing/
Take Camomile and melilote maiorane Calamint Hysope -
wormwood penny royall stechas mints of esch of them -
iiij: boyle them together nfaire running water by the space -
of an hower. dippe a sponge in the same water and as hott -
as you may suffer it hould it to your eares that noe could -
enter into your head then take Cotton and stopp your -
eares therewith/

Take rosin parofin of each lb/8 virgin wax and frankensence
of each ziij mastick zj harts tallonwe ziij Cumfre zij melt
