manner following
{use} Muske water I make after two seuerall wayes, the over

{stir as} musk rose water, & two parts of myrtle water; & a other

ne, that is very good, & an part of water of Angells
& put it all together in an Glass violl, of an bigg
quantity; & put therein an ounce of Ambar=Greece brui-
sed, & half an ounce of Civet, & some perfumes that
shall bee every good; about one forth part of them; &
as much sweete Gumm as the bigness of an hazell
nut (& if you have of that, which is called of flowers, or [..]
flores, tis better) & if the violl bee not full, fill it
with rose water; & stopp it, with an new peece of par-
chment; & make with an bodkin, three, or four hooles,
in the parchment; & that the stopper bee vvell [t]ied
fast: & prepare an harth (or an great brass pan) with
fire; & ashes; so that it may bee betweene hott[embers],
& fire; & make an hole in the middle, & put therein
the violl, & cover it with that kinde of fire; & put
an little more quick fire about it, & towards the top
thereof, untill it bee covered till within two fingers
beneath the neck; & so let it boyle: & as the fire decaies
put more forthwith; & let it boyle till it bee an ha[dfu]
beneath the neck: take it away, then; & put it an
basket that hath either woll, or hures of Hemp, or
flax, about it (or rather within it) & place it awhile
on the ground: now when it boyles, & goes out by
those hooles made in the parchment; you must put it
with an knife into an porringer; & put it in againe
& so you must doe euer, when it runns ouer, or goes out
& you must haue prepared, an ounce of muske pounded
with in four, or fiue howres, that the violl bee
taken of, of the fire; then put them in; but not
before that time; because you must not meddle with
nor stirr the violl, for feare it breake: & when you
put in the musk, stirr it very quietly with an lit-
tle stick, that it may incorporate it self with the rest
& put it againe into the Basket, aftert that you have
put in the muske; & put the wooll about it; & lett it
stand theere, & stay two, or three dayes to coole: &
this must bee donne with an greate; & euery day (for the
space of two, or three dayes) take it out of the basket;
