A drink for ye Sciatica
or any pains in ye limbs & good against ye scurvy
Take ye Green tops of pine & firr trees, of each six
handfulls of dryed bay leaves 3 handfulls one
while lemmon sliced an ounce of liquorish scrapd
& sliced half a pd of reasons stoned half a pint of
[soros] by some cold [cheese logs] shred ye pine & firr
& put ym all in a bag of [boylter] & hang it in
6 gallons of ale as soon as it hath [done] working
stop it up - - - in five or six days it is fit to
drink take a good Draught 3 times a day or
if you like it drink no other drink
To make ye fine [Jeken salfe]
Take a pd of [venus] & [urpretins] & beat with [ d OL]
mesh rose water till it is [whots] yn take half a
pd of virgens wax & melt ym together & when they
are well mingled together in yr heating take
fine holland or paper & dip in & when they are
cold rub ym with a slick stone & keep ym for your
use
To make whight Almond Gingerbread
Take a pd of Jordan Almonds blanch ym in boiling water
imediately after you have put into that water as you
blanch ym out of it put ym into cold water there let them
ly a quarter of an hour ym take ym out of ye water & pick
ym clean from any rotten ones drying ym very well in a
course clean cloth put ym into a marble mortar & pound
ym with 2 or 3 spoonfulls of rosewater which must be
put in as soon as soon as you have washed them they
must often be stired with a spoon while they are in
pouning & the must be pounded till they are as fine
yt you cannot disern any coursness of ye Almonds in them
be carefull to keep ym from oyling when they are very finely
pounded take ym out of ye mortar having ready a pd or more
of Double refined sugar very fine [served] wherein you
must put in 3 or 4 [granos] of Ambergreess small pounded
mix with a knife your Almonds and sugar together
